Domain Transfer Policy
Transfer of Domain Names In and Out
1. Overview
This policy describes the process for transferring domain names to DotWee Limited (incoming transfers) and from DotWee Limited to another registrar (outgoing transfers). All transfers are subject to ICANN's Inter-Registrar Transfer Policy and applicable registry rules.
DotWee Limited is committed to facilitating transfers in accordance with ICANN policy and will not unreasonably deny or delay legitimate transfer requests.
2. Incoming transfers to DotWee Limited
To transfer a domain to DotWee Limited from another registrar:
- The domain must be unlocked at the current registrar.
- You must obtain the AuthInfo code (also called EPP code) from the current registrar.
- The domain must not be within 60 days of initial registration or a previous transfer, unless ICANN policy allows otherwise.
- The registrant contact email must be functional to approve the transfer.
- All transfer fees must be paid in full.
3. Outgoing transfers from DotWee Limited
To transfer your domain to another registrar:
- Unlock the domain in your DotWee account.
- Obtain the AuthInfo code from us via your account or by contacting support.
- Ensure your registrant contact email is current and functional.
- Initiate the transfer with the gaining registrar and provide the AuthInfo code.
- The gaining registrar will send a Form of Authorization (FOA) to the registrant email for confirmation.
- Confirm the transfer request within the required timeframe (typically 5 days).
We will not charge a fee for outgoing transfers. The gaining registrar may charge a transfer fee which typically includes one additional year of registration.
4. ICANN-approved reasons for denying a transfer
We may deny a transfer only for the reasons permitted by ICANN, including:
- Evidence of fraud
- UDRP (Uniform Domain-Name Dispute-Resolution Policy) action
- Court order by a court of competent jurisdiction
- Non-payment for a previous registration period
- Domain is within 60 days of initial registration or a previous transfer
- Domain is locked at the request of the registrant
5. Transfer locks
For security and in accordance with ICANN's Transfer Policy, the following transfer locks apply:
- 60-day lock after registration: Newly registered domains cannot be transferred to another registrar for 60 days after initial registration.
- 60-day lock after transfer: Domains transferred to DotWee are locked for 60 days before they can be transferred to another registrar.
You may enable or disable the client transfer lock (clientTransferProhibited status) at any time through your account settings, except during mandatory lock periods.
6. Fees
Transfer fees are published on our website and may vary by TLD. In most cases, a successful transfer adds one year to the domain’s registration term.
7. Failure or rejection of transfer
If a transfer fails or is rejected, we will inform you of the reason and how to resolve it. You may re-initiate the transfer once the issue is resolved and ICANN policy allows.
8. Dispute resolution
Transfer disputes are handled under ICANN's Transfer Dispute Resolution Policy (TDRP). If you believe a transfer was completed in violation of ICANN policy, you may file a complaint through the TDRP process.
