RDAP and WHOIS Terms of Use

Access and Acceptable Use Policy

1. Purpose of RDAP and WHOIS services

DotWee Limited provides public RDAP (Registration Data Access Protocol) and WHOIS services to display domain name registration data in accordance with ICANN requirements and applicable laws.

Important: As of January 28, 2025, ICANN has deprecated the traditional WHOIS port 43 service in favor of RDAP. While we continue to provide WHOIS services for compatibility, RDAP is now the primary protocol for accessing registration data. RDAP provides structured, machine-readable responses and supports authenticated access for authorized users.

Our services are available at:

2. Permitted uses

You may use RDAP and WHOIS data only for lawful purposes, including:

  • To verify the registration of a domain name
  • To contact the registrant, administrative, or technical contact for issues related to the domain name
  • To investigate technical or legal issues relating to domain names

3. Prohibited uses

You must not use RDAP or WHOIS data for:

  • The transmission of unsolicited commercial advertising or bulk email (spam)
  • Automated, high-volume queries except as permitted for legitimate operational purposes
  • Data mining, scraping, or any other automated extraction of data for commercial purposes
  • Any use that violates applicable laws or regulations

4. Rate limiting

To protect our systems and ensure service availability, DotWee Limited applies query rate limits. Excessive queries may result in temporary or permanent blocking of access.

5. Accuracy of data

The RDAP and WHOIS data is provided “as is” without warranties of accuracy. Registrants are responsible for maintaining accurate registration information.

6. Privacy and data redaction

In accordance with ICANN's Registration Data Policy and applicable privacy laws, certain personal data is redacted from public RDAP and WHOIS responses.

Data displayed publicly:

  • Domain name and registry domain ID
  • Domain status codes
  • Creation, update, and expiration dates
  • Registrar name and IANA ID
  • Nameserver information
  • DNSSEC information (if applicable)

Data redacted for privacy:

  • Registrant name (for individuals)
  • Postal address
  • Phone and fax numbers
  • Email addresses (replaced with web form contact)

Organization names may be displayed where the registrant is a legal entity rather than a natural person.

7. Authenticated access

Parties with a legitimate interest in accessing non-public registration data may request authenticated access through RDAP. This includes:

  • Law enforcement agencies with valid legal process
  • Intellectual property rights holders with documented claims
  • Security researchers investigating active threats
  • Other parties with demonstrated legitimate purposes

Requests for authenticated access should be submitted to support@dotwee.com with supporting documentation. Requests are evaluated on a case-by-case basis in accordance with ICANN policy, applicable laws, and our Privacy Policy.

8. Abuse reporting

If you believe RDAP or WHOIS data is being misused, or if you identify inaccuracies, contact abuse@dotwee.com.

9. Changes to these terms

We may update these RDAP and WHOIS Terms of Use from time to time to comply with ICANN requirements or legal obligations. Changes will be effective when posted on our website.

By accessing DotWee Limited’s RDAP or WHOIS services, you agree to comply with these Terms of Use.
