Everything You Need to Know
Quick answers to common questions about domains, accounts, and our services.
You can reach our support team via our contact form, where you can submit a ticket and receive a response within 24 hours. You can also follow our Telegram channel for service updates and announcements. We're committed to providing prompt, helpful assistance for all domain-related inquiries.
Our support team operates Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM HKT. We aim to respond to all inquiries within 24 business hours, though most tickets receive a response much sooner. For critical domain issues such as unauthorized changes or security concerns, we prioritize these cases and typically respond within a few hours during business days.
We do not offer phone support at this time. This is a deliberate choice that allows us to keep our prices competitive while maintaining detailed records of all support interactions. Written communication through our ticket system ensures nothing gets lost and provides you with a complete record of your support history. Rest assured, our written support is thorough, professional, and typically faster than waiting on hold.
Creating an account is simple and takes just a minute. Click the Sign Up button, enter your email address and choose a secure password. You'll receive a verification email to confirm your address. Once verified, you can immediately start searching for and registering domains. We only collect the minimum information necessary to provide our services.
Visit the password reset page and enter the email address associated with your account. You'll receive an email with a secure link to create a new password. For security reasons, these reset links expire after a short period. If you don't receive the email, check your spam folder or contact support for assistance.
Yes, you can update your email address from your account settings. Navigate to your dashboard, click on Settings, and update your email in the profile section. You'll need to verify the new email address before the change takes effect. Note that changing the registrant email on a domain is a separate process that requires ICANN-mandated verification.
Before closing your account, you must transfer or let expire any domains registered with us. Once your account has no active domains, you can request account closure by contacting our support team. We'll verify your identity and process the request. Please note that any remaining account balance is non-refundable after account closure, so we recommend using it before requesting closure.
Every domain registered with DotWee includes free WHOIS privacy protection, full DNS management, domain forwarding capabilities, transfer lock protection, and unlimited nameserver changes. There are no hidden fees or upsells for essential features that should be standard. You get complete control over your domain from day one, with a clean and intuitive management dashboard.
Yes, absolutely. As a privacy-first registrar, we provide free WHOIS privacy protection on all eligible domains. This shields your personal contact information from public WHOIS databases, protecting you from spam, unwanted solicitations, and potential identity theft. This feature is automatically enabled on all new registrations at no additional cost.
Yes, we welcome domain transfers. To transfer your domain, first unlock it at your current registrar and obtain the authorization (EPP) code. Then initiate the transfer from your DotWee dashboard. The process typically takes 5-7 days to complete. Your domain will receive a free one-year extension upon successful transfer. Note that domains must be at least 60 days old and not within 60 days of expiration to be transferred.
We support a growing selection of popular TLDs including .com, .net, .org, and many new gTLDs. Our focus is on providing quality service for the extensions we offer rather than overwhelming you with thousands of obscure options. Check our domain search to see current availability and pricing for your desired extension. We regularly add new TLDs based on customer demand.
Email verification is required by ICANN (the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers) for all generic top-level domain (gTLD) registrations. When you register a domain or update the registrant email address, you have 15 days to verify the email by clicking the link sent to that address. If you don't verify within this period, your domain may be suspended until verification is complete. Check your inbox (and spam folder) for the verification email from the registry. If you can't find it, you can resend the verification email from your domain management page. This policy protects domain owners by ensuring only valid email addresses are associated with domain registrations.
All domains are automatically protected with a transfer lock (also known as registrar lock or clientTransferProhibited status). This prevents anyone from transferring your domain without your explicit authorization. Additionally, ICANN requires a 60-day lock period after registration or transfer. To transfer your domain, you must manually unlock it and obtain an authorization code from your dashboard.
Yes, we strongly recommend enabling two-factor authentication on your account. You can set up 2FA using any TOTP-compatible authenticator app such as Google Authenticator, Authy, or 1Password. Once enabled, you'll need both your password and a time-based code from your authenticator app to log in. This significantly reduces the risk of unauthorized account access even if your password is compromised.
We send multiple reminder emails before your domain expires. If it does expire, there's typically a grace period during which you can renew at the standard rate. After the grace period, the domain enters a redemption phase where recovery is possible but involves additional fees. Eventually, the domain is released and becomes available for anyone to register. We strongly recommend enabling auto-renewal to prevent accidental expiration. For complete details, see our Domain Lifecycle Policy.
To unlock your domain, log into your dashboard, select the domain, and navigate to the Settings tab. Click "Unlock Domain" to remove the transfer lock. You can then request your authorization (EPP) code, which you'll need to provide to your new registrar. Note that domains within the ICANN-mandated 60-day lock period after registration or previous transfer cannot be unlocked. For more information, see our Domain Transfer Policy.
We accept major credit and debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express) processed securely through Stripe, as well as cryptocurrency payments for those who prefer enhanced privacy. No, and this is by design. DotWee is a privacy-first domain registrar committed to maintaining a direct, transparent relationship with every customer. We do not operate reseller, white-label, or affiliate programs. All domains are registered and managed exclusively through DotWee as an ICANN-accredited registrar. This approach ensures consistent service quality, direct accountability, and complete control over your domain privacy—with no middlemen, no third-party data sharing, and no compromises.
Due to the nature of domain registrations, completed domain purchases are generally non-refundable. Once a domain is registered with the registry, the transaction cannot be reversed. However, if you experience technical issues that prevent you from using our services, or if you were charged in error, please contact our support team within 7 days and we'll work to resolve the situation. Account balance deposits may be refunded within 14 days if not yet used for domain purchases.
